For Pete Steeves, forestry is more than a career, it’s a family legacy. 🌲
Pete grew up in the forestry industry and now owns and operates Otter Point Timber on Vancouver Island, a business his father helped start when Pete was just 14 years old.
Today, Otter Point Timber manufactures utility poles that help keep communities connected across Canada and the United States. But for Pete, forestry has always been about thinking long-term and making the most of every tree.
“It’s important to utilize the wood that we do have and make the most out of it,” he says.
In this reel, Pete shares the lessons he learned from his father, why he’s passionate about forestry, and how thoughtful forest management can help create opportunities for future generations.
Pete is also a proud Forestry Works for BC member who believes in helping build a stronger understanding of responsible forestry across our province.
