Help Us Help You

All of us have seen that forestry in British Columbia has frequently been portrayed in a negative light in the media. Most of us in the forest sector wish that public discourse on forestry matters could be more often based on facts and truthful information, but that alone isn’t enough. A big contributing reason for this negativity is that we collectively have not done a good job of communicating with non-forestry people. There are a number of reasons for this. One is we tend to not communicate very much, and when we do we use language that regular people can’t understand. Added to that, people are inherently suspicious of companies because there is a profit motive, just as they are skeptical of governments’ messaging because there is a political motive.

Our Mission

FWFBC will be a voice for the broadest array of forestry supporters in British Columbia. All British Columbians including government leaders, First Nations, communities, and citizens can take pride in knowing that BC’s forests are well-managed and at the same time generate immense social, economic and environmental benefits for everyone.

The goal of FWFBC is that British Columbian citizens and leaders be proud of forestry. There are so many good forestry stories to tell. We need to present these stories, based on facts, as solutions to things that concern people. Like how forestry could be the largest reducer of greenhouse gasses (many times more impactful than EV’s), restoring wildlife habitat, protecting communities from catastrophic wildfires, improving air quality, creating net-zero building products, and an amazing source of green energy.

Forestry Works for BC (FWFBC) is now a society registered in the Province of British Columbia in accordance with the Societies Act (Society Act). The Board of Directors reflects a broad spectrum of the forest sector and each of the Directors brings a wealth of experience, deep knowledge and a strong track record of success. FWFBC is guided by the wise legal counsel of Miller Titerle (Home – MillerTiterle + Company) and assistance on financial matters is provided by Doane Grant Thornton (Castlegar | Doane Grant Thornton).

The Forestry Works for BC Society was incorporated on March 19th, 2025. At Forestry Works for BC, strong governance is the foundation of our organization. Our Board is responsible for strategic oversight, ensuring that our mission aligns with the constitution. This includes approving multi-year strategic plans, reviewing annual budgets, monitoring organizational performance, and mitigating risks. Committed to ethical and transparent operations, the Board meets as needed throughout the year to fulfill these responsibilities.
