Forest Residuals – The part no one sees

What do cranberries, garden soil and the plants at your local greenhouse have in common? 🌲

The answer might surprise you: forest residuals.

When most people think about forestry, they picture lumber and plywood. But the parts of the forest industry that don’t become traditional wood products can have a whole other life.

We spoke with Dennis Augustine of Augustine Soil & Mulch, Dan Kosicki of Meadows Landscape Supply and Mack Frost of Sumas Gro Media about how forest residuals are being turned into growing media, soil products, mulch and other materials used by farmers, landscapers, greenhouses and homeowners across BC.

“The residuals from the forest industry feed an industry unto itself, and we’re proof of that.”
